Early voting is available in person during a two to three week period before Election Day. You can vote at your local County Clerk’s office or at designated early voting locations.

No excuse is required to vote by mail in New Mexico. The deadline to request an absentee ballot is 14 days before the election. Eligible voters can opt-in to the Permanent Absentee List to automatically receive an absentee ballot for each statewide election.

Request Ballot

New Mexico offers same-day voter registration, which allows eligible voters to register to vote or update their existing registration and vote on the same day at their County Clerk’s office. This is available during early voting periods and on Election Day.

Same-Day Registration

Effective July 1, 2025, New Mexico implemented Automatic Voter Registration (AVR) through the Motor Vehicle Division (MVD). Qualified electors who interact with MVD will be automatically registered unless they opt out.
