Is the Journal turning over a new leaf?
It published a wire story Tuesday, Jan. 18 that rebuts Republican claims the Obama health care reform will cost jobs.
“Job-Killer, Maybe Not” is the headline, “Republican Claims Overstate Case on 2010 Health Care Law” the sub-head on a McClatchy Newspapers story analyzing the charge.
I’m not in love with the placement of the story on C7 or with the sub-head’s understatement – but hey, why quibble?
When our Republican Party organ runs a story rebutting the party line, we should take note and applaud.
PS: This follows on what I was saying yesterday about the AP Washington bureau’s campaign against the Obama health reform in its “news” stories.
In an aside, remember, I suggested comparing AP’s politicized stories with accounts from other sources, among them McClatchy.
Today’s careful, nuanced story casting doubt on GOP claims came from McClatchy, not AP.
It’s nice to be validated.

Well, I guess the only nitpicky comment I would make is that the headline says the Republicans are “overstating” their case. In my opinion, the assertion that health care reform is “job killing” is not just “overstating” their argument, it is reducing it to laughable absurdity.
