Yárida Estrada

YaridaChicana and native to the southwest, Yárida Estrada was born in El Paso, TX and grew up in Albuquerque where she found love for her state and community.  She joined the social movement in 2008 when she worked the Campaign for a Better New Mexico and Get out the Vote (GOTV) with the Southwest Organizing Project (SWOP). She currently serves as Secretary on the SWOP Board of Directors. Yárida interned with the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) for 5-years studying wilderness, conservation, resource and habitat management, wildland firefighting and environmental planning. She has been involved in environmental and climate justice movement for the past 2-years mobilizing communities who have been disportionately affected by the extractive industry and development. Yárida also volunteers as a core member with Diné Relief Initiative working toward community support for Diné youth, mothers and elders.   
Yárida is new to the team at Center for Civic Policy providing support as an administrative assistant to the Chief Operating Officer.
